Steelers Inactives Set for Wild Card Clash Against Texans

News 24 hour

The Pittsburgh Steelers released their inactive list ahead of their Wild Card showdown with the Houston Texans, and the news reflects a roster that is largely healthy at the perfect time.

Inactive for the game are wide receiver Roman Wilson, running back Kaleb Johnson, cornerback Tre Flowers, linebacker Jeremiah Moon, offensive tackle Jack Driscoll, defensive tackle Logan Lee, with Will Howard designated as the third quarterback.

Notably, the Steelers will enter the postseason matchup without any starters listed as inactive for the second straight week — a major boost during playoff football. Players have emphasized how important full-team availability has been to maintaining chemistry throughout the season.

Cornerback Brandin Echols highlighted the significance of continuity, explaining that having the full unit together allows the team to execute confidently in high-stakes moments like a playoff game.

A major storyline for Pittsburgh is the return of wide receiver DK Metcalf, who is back after missing two games due to suspension. His presence restores the Steelers’ receiving group to full strength.

During the regular season, Metcalf recorded 59 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns. His ability to stretch defenses, win contested catches, and provide physicality makes him a game-changing weapon.

Tight end Connor Heyward noted that Metcalf’s return adds confidence to the offense and creates more opportunities across the field, calling him a difference-maker who elevates the entire unit.

Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith also welcomed the return, emphasizing how valuable it is to regain a top-tier playmaker while praising the contributions of other receivers and tight ends who stepped up in his absence.

At 6-foot-4 and 229 pounds, Metcalf brings a physical edge that few defenders can match. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers described him as the team’s top receiver, praising his work ethic, intensity, and relentless pace even during practice sessions.

Metcalf expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return, crediting his teammates for helping keep the season alive and allowing him to rejoin them on the field.

On the defensive side, linebacker T.J. Watt continues to trend upward after returning last week against the Ravens following a three-game absence due to a lung issue. Watt logged 43 defensive snaps, played over 80% of the game, and recorded an interception.

Defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said Watt’s conditioning and preparation stood out, noting that while timing and rhythm can take time after an injury, Watt showed no hesitation or fatigue.

Watt himself said he felt strong after practice this week and credited the training and strength staff for getting him game-ready. With an extra day of rest, he is expected to be even sharper in the Wild Card matchup.

As the Steelers prepare to face Houston, the combination of roster health, star power returning at key positions, and playoff momentum has set the stage for a highly anticipated postseason battle.

College Basketball Power Rankings: Michigan and Arizona Set the Pace Entering 2026

News 24 hour

As the calendar turns to 2026, more than one-third of the college basketball regular season has already passed. And one thing has become increasingly clear: Michigan and Arizona have separated themselves from the rest of the field.

In this week’s updated Power Rankings, the Wolverines and Wildcats once again claim the top two spots for the second straight update. While several strong contenders—including Iowa State, UConn, and Vanderbilt—continue to impress, Michigan and Arizona remain the standard everyone else is chasing.

Below is the latest look at the Top 16 teams, featuring stability at the top and plenty of movement throughout the rest of the rankings.

Michigan has been nothing short of dominant. Nine of its 12 victories have come by 20 points or more, including six wins by at least 40 points and one by 50. The Wolverines lead the nation in scoring margin at +30.3 and remain one of just six undefeated teams in Division I basketball.

Arizona sits at 13-0, marking its best start since the 2013–14 season. The Wildcats closed out 2025 with eight straight wins by 19 points or more and will begin Big 12 play on Saturday at Utah.

3. UConn (Last Week: 5)

UConn is quietly building momentum. The Huskies have won nine consecutive games and are now 13-1 after cruising past Butler, DePaul, and Xavier in conference play. Even so, it still feels like there’s another gear left to reach.

The Cyclones completed nonconference play undefeated for just the third time in the modern era. Wins over St. John’s, Purdue, Iowa, and Creighton highlight an impressive resume. Iowa State opens Big 12 play Friday against West Virginia.

5. Vanderbilt (Last Week: 6)

Vanderbilt improved to 13-0 after closing nonconference action with a decisive win over New Haven. It’s only the second time in program history the Commodores have started 13-0. SEC play begins Saturday versus South Carolina.

6. Gonzaga (Last Week: 8)

Gonzaga’s nonconference schedule was as tough as any in the nation, featuring a program-record eight games against power-conference opponents. The Zags emerged 12-1 and now turn their attention to WCC play starting Friday.

7. Nebraska (Last Week: 7)

Nebraska enters 2026 undefeated at 13-0, the best start in school history. The Cornhuskers also carry a nation-leading 17-game winning streak dating back to last season and will face Michigan State on Friday.

BYU opens Big 12 play at Kansas State for its first true road test of the season. The Cougars are 12-1 after strong nonconference wins over Wisconsin, Miami, Clemson, and Dayton.

9. Purdue (Last Week: 10)

Purdue’s position at No. 9 speaks volumes about the depth at the top of college basketball. The Boilermakers are 12-1 and loaded with talent inside and out, continuing a trend of fast starts under head coach Matt Painter.

10. Texas Tech (Last Week: Unranked)

Texas Tech has been inconsistent at times, but its upset win over Duke just before Christmas signaled growth. The Red Raiders (10-3) open Big 12 play at home against Oklahoma State.

Duke takes a notable drop after cooling off from its early-season dominance. Losses to Texas Tech and a narrow escape against Georgia Tech suggest the Blue Devils are still searching for consistency.

12. Houston (Last Week: 13)

Houston enters Big 12 play at 12-1 with a six-game winning streak. Despite not yet playing its best basketball, the Cougars remain a serious threat to contend for another regular-season title.

Actor and Director Timothy Busfield Charged in Sexual Assault Case Involving Minors.

News 24 hour

Albuquerque, New Mexico — Emmy Award–winning actor and director Timothy Busfield is facing serious legal trouble after being charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor, along with child abuse allegations.

Koat news

The charges stem from incidents reportedly involving child actors during the production of the Fox television series “The Cleaning Lady” in Albuquerque.

According to court records, the Albuquerque Police Department launched an investigation in November 2024 after responding to a report at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Medical staff there raised concerns that the children involved may have been groomed, prompting further inquiry by authorities.

Initially, the two children told hospital personnel that there was no sexual activity. However, they described uncomfortable physical interactions, stating that Busfield—referred to by them as “Uncle Tim”—would tickle their stomachs and legs despite their objections.

During subsequent interviews, the children alleged that Busfield touched them inappropriately over their clothing while on set, specifically in private areas.

Busfield later spoke with investigators, saying he did not recall the alleged incidents. He reportedly stated that if such actions occurred, he had no memory of them, adding that physical affection was not unusual behavior for him. He also claimed that his family had maintained a friendly relationship with the children, including exchanging holiday gifts, and suggested the accusations were motivated by resentment after the children were not rehired for a later season.

Police interviews with witnesses revealed that the on-set special education teacher assigned to supervise the minors occasionally lost track of the children during filming.

Warner Bros., the studio behind the series, conducted its own internal investigation but concluded that the allegations could not be confirmed, as stated in the affidavit.

Court documents also indicate that Busfield had faced similar accusations in 1994 and 2012, though no formal charges were filed in those cases.

As of Friday evening, official court records show that Busfield has not been taken into custody. While records list a residence in Albuquerque, it remains unclear whether he lives there permanently.

Timothy Busfield is known for his roles in several well-known films, including Field of Dreams, Little Big League, Revenge of the Nerds, Stripes, Striking Distance, and Sneakers.

What Fernando Mendoza Said After Indiana Football’s Dominant Win Over Oregon.

News 24 hour

Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza addressed the media after leading his team to a commanding 56–22 victory against Oregon in the Peach Bowl semifinal of the College Football Playoff. The game was played Friday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and secured Indiana a spot in the National Championship.

Following the historic win, Mendoza reflected on his journey, the support from Hoosier Nation, and the mindset that has driven Indiana’s remarkable season.

Gratitude Toward Hoosier Nation

Mendoza made it clear that his success is rooted in the belief and opportunities provided by Indiana’s coaching staff and fans. He recalled arriving on campus roughly a year ago as a transfer and emphasized how much confidence the program placed in him—not just as a quarterback, but as a leader. According to Mendoza, the support he’s received is something he will always be thankful for.

Playing for a National Title in His Hometown

The upcoming National Championship game will take place in Miami, a meaningful location for Mendoza. While he acknowledged the emotional significance of playing in his hometown, he stressed that the focus remains on executing Indiana’s style of football.

He praised the Hurricanes as a strong opponent led by Coach Mario Cristobal but emphasized that staying true to their identity has been the key to Indiana’s success all season.

Growth and Efficiency on the Field

Mendoza also spoke about his development during the playoffs. After throwing no touchdown passes in the season opener, he admitted he initially tried to do too much. With guidance from the coaching staff, he learned to trust the system, make smart decisions, and rely on his teammates. His disciplined approach has resulted in impressive accuracy, multiple touchdown passes, and efficient offensive execution.

The Importance of Discipline and Focus

Addressing the team’s mentality, Mendoza highlighted the concept of delayed gratification. He credited Indiana’s players, coaches, and staff for maintaining discipline and preparation despite outside distractions such as championship hype and individual awards. Treating each week as the most important game has helped the Hoosiers stay locked in throughout the season.

Impact of the Crowd

Although the game was played at a neutral site, Mendoza said it felt anything but neutral. Hoosier Nation made its presence felt, creating an environment that disrupted Oregon’s offense and helped Indiana avoid costly penalties. Mendoza emphasized that crowd energy played a crucial role in the team’s offensive rhythm and overall momentum.

With the National Championship now ahead, Mendoza made it clear that the mission isn’t finished yet.

Renee Nicole Good Shooting: What Happened During the Minneapolis ICE Operation

News 24 hour

A deadly shooting involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has sparked nationwide outrage after Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, was killed during a federal immigration operation in south Minneapolis.

Fox News

The incident occurred during a large-scale migrant enforcement action, when Good was inside her vehicle and was fatally shot by a masked ICE agent. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. The officer involved has not yet been publicly identified, and the case remains under active investigation.

Public and Political Reaction

Several Democratic leaders strongly condemned the killing, describing it as an abuse of federal authority. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called the incident a clear act of violence, stating that such actions must be investigated and prosecuted under the law.

Members of the Minneapolis City Council issued a joint statement demanding that ICE cease operations within the city, accusing federal agents of bringing fear, instability, and violence to local communities. The council emphasized its support for immigrant residents and pledged cooperation with state officials to ensure public safety.

Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar also criticized ICE’s conduct, calling the shooting unacceptable and expressing deep sympathy for the victim’s family. She described the event as an example of unchecked state violence and urged accountability.

Conflicting Accounts

Officials from the Trump administration and several Republican leaders claimed that Good attempted to harm officers using her vehicle. However, Democratic lawmakers argue that available video footage does not support that claim and urged the public to review the evidence independently.

Despite the backlash, Republican leadership reaffirmed its support for ICE. Vice President JD Vance publicly stated that the administration fully stands behind ICE officers amid growing criticism.

Family and Community Impact

Photographs of Renee Nicole Good, shared on social media, show her with loved ones and in professional settings, highlighting a life described by family as compassionate and caring. Her mother, Donna Ganger, told local media that Good lived with her partner in the Twin Cities and was not involved in protests or confrontations.

Describing her daughter as kind-hearted and devoted to helping others, Ganger expressed shock and grief over the circumstances of her death, saying her daughter must have been terrified in her final moments.

As investigations continue, the shooting has intensified the national debate over federal immigration enforcement, the use of force, and accountability within law enforcement agencies.

What’s Next for the Cast

The casting of the film’s main villain, **Mother Gothel**, has not yet been announced. The role was previously rumored to be linked to **Scarlett Johansson**, though no official confirmation followed.

Teagan Croft is best known for her role as **Raven** in DC’s *Titans*, which aired from 2018 to 2023. She also starred in Netflix’s *True Spirit*, playing real-life sailor **Jessica Watson**.

Illinois State Football 2026: Redbirds Prepare for Historic FCS Championship Showdown

By Staff Report | January 6, 2026

Everything the Illinois State Redbirds have worked for comes down to one final game.

After an incredible postseason journey that began five weeks ago with an unseeded at-large entry into the FCS playoffs, Illinois State University’s football team has battled its way to the national title game. With four straight playoff victories, the Redbirds enter Monday night’s championship matchup carrying a 12–4 record.

Illinois State will take on second-seeded Montana State (13–2) in the FCS National Championship on Monday, January 5, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CST at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Championship Energy Fills Nashville

Updated Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Hours before kickoff, hundreds of Redbird supporters gathered near the stadium to celebrate the program’s historic run. Fans enjoyed grilled food, refreshing drinks, and warm sunshine as temperatures hovered in the mid-60s, creating a near-perfect championship atmosphere.

During the official Redbird Athletics and Alumni Association tailgate, Illinois State University President Dr. Aondover Tarhule addressed the energized crowd, thanking them for their dedication and presence.

“This moment is as big as it gets,” Tarhule said. “This program has earned it.”

Earlier in the day, Tarhule shared that he sent an encouraging message to head coach Brock Spack, recognizing the team’s remarkable season.

“I told him what this team has already accomplished is historic,” Tarhule said. “Now it’s about finishing the journey they started.”

Bird Walk Welcomes the Redbirds

Updated Tuseday at 5:30 p.m.

Approximately three hours before kickoff, fans lined up outside FirstBank Stadium to welcome the team during the traditional Bird Walk. The Big Red Marching Machine (BRMM) performed for the crowd, joined by mascot Reggie Redbird, creating a loud and emotional send-off for the players.

Senior drum major Emma Turner said the level of fan support in Nashville exceeded her expectations.

“It’s unbelievable to see this many people here,” Turner said. “You realize just how important this moment is.”

Turner also expressed excitement about performing inside the 41,000-seat stadium, which serves as the home field for Vanderbilt University.

“I’ve never played in a venue this big,” she said. “The sound, the energy—it’s going to be incredible.”

After the performance, Turner’s mother, Christy Turner, reflected on the emotional significance of the moment.

“We thought her final game had already passed,” she said. “Getting one more—especially at a national championship—is really special.”

Touchdown for Teachers Honors Local Educators

Updated Tuseday at 5:30 p.m.

Monday night’s championship also highlights education through the Touchdown for Teachers program. Two Bloomington-Normal educators—Tracy Niekamp and Aggie Hatch—will be recognized during the game.

For every touchdown scored, $1,000 will be donated and split between the two universities.

Niekamp, who has spent 27 years in education and currently teaches Adapted Physical Education at Parkside Junior High School, is deeply connected to the Redbird program. She is married to defensive coordinator Travis Niekamp and is the mother of Redbird players Tye and Dexter Niekamp.

“My students learn that movement looks different for everyone, but everyone belongs,” Niekamp said. “Being honored here is incredibly meaningful.”

She joked that her family would stay focused on the game even while she’s being recognized.

“I warned them not to panic if they see me on the field,” she laughed.

A Family Moment on the National Stage

For Niekamp, watching her husband and sons compete for a national championship is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“Having one family member in a title game is special,” she said. “Having three is beyond words.”

The second honoree, Aggie Hatch, has taught kindergarten at Thomas Metcalf Laboratory School for 23 years and earned her STEM Certificate from Illinois State in 2024.

“I truly love teaching kindergarten,” Hatch said. “Seeing that moment when learning clicks—that’s why I do this.”

A Night to Remember for Redbird Nation

As Illinois State steps onto the field Monday night, the Redbirds carry more than just a season’s worth of wins—they represent resilience, community, and belief. Whether in the stands or watching from home, Redbird Nation stands united for one final game on college football’s biggest FCS stage.

Venezuela’s Maduro Taken to USS Iwo Jima After Overnight Capture The TWZ Newsletter

News 24 hour

Weekly analysis and insights into military technology, global strategy, and foreign policy developments.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife were transported to the U.S. Navy’s Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima after being captured during an overnight operation. Earlier reporting by The War Zone (TWZ) had already suggested that the USS Iwo Jima was likely a key platform in the mission, helping readers understand the early known details of the operation.

Trump revealed additional information during a phone interview with Fox News earlier today.

According to available details, a large number of helicopters from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) were involved in the operation. Given the scale of the helicopter deployment, the USS Iwo Jima appears to have played a major support role, particularly as much of its air wing had already been positioned onshore. The special operations support vessel M/V Ocean Trader, which has been operating in the region for several months alongside the Iwo Jima, also contributed to the mission, though its helicopter support capacity is far more limited compared to an amphibious assault ship.

Trump described Maduro’s location as a heavily fortified residence rather than a typical home.
“He was inside a structure that resembled a fortress,” Trump said. “It had reinforced steel doors and a secure safety room made entirely of steel.” He added that Maduro attempted to reach this protected area but was overtaken by U.S. forces before he could get inside.

Trump further stated that U.S. personnel were equipped with specialized tools, including blowtorches, in case forced entry into the secure room became necessary. Previous reports indicated that U.S. Army Delta Force operators were leading the ground component of the operation.
